This isn’t exactly how we’d planned our first blog post, but Mother Nature apparently had different plans than we did. The midwest is experiencing severe storms, so after circling Chicago for about 45 minutes, the airline made the decision to divert us to Minneapolis. They’re going to resume our flight tomorrow afternoon, so we’ve got about 12 hours to enjoy the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport. It’s storming here too, but at least we were able to land!
The airport has provided us with mats to sleep on and we’ve achieved a major victory by scoring a couple of airplane pillows and blankets. We’re in a not-too noisy hallway, and best of all, the screaming baby who was one row ahead of us on the plane is nowhere to be seen – or heard! There’s a 24-hour McDonald’s here, and Brooke has candy bars in her carry-on. We have developed a new appreciation for the simple things in life!
Although we had hoped to be posting you exciting stuff from CHA in just a few hours, given the extreme weather situation on this side of the country we are happy to be safely on the ground warm and dry. Keep your fingers crossed that we’re able to get to Chicago tomorrow!
